AceGuide — Use Policy
Last updated 29 July 2026 · Applies to everyone who signs in to AceGuide
This is the plain-language policy. It sits alongside the Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy and, where they disagree, the Terms govern.
1. What AceGuide is
AceGuide displays glucose readings that you already publish to your own Nightscout site. It is a viewer. It does not measure anything, does not connect to a sensor, and does not change anything on your Nightscout instance — it only reads.
2. What AceGuide is not
AceGuide is not a medical device and must not be used to make treatment decisions.
- Never dose insulin, eat, or withhold treatment based on what AceGuide shows. Always confirm with your CGM’s own app or a fingerstick.
- AceGuide is not an alarm system you should rely on for safety. Alarms only sound while the app is open and on screen. Phones sleep, browsers throttle background tabs, Wi-Fi drops, and Nightscout instances go down. Keep your CGM’s own alarms switched on.
- Readings can be delayed, missing, or wrong. When data is stale, AceGuide says so — but the absence of an alarm never means “everything is fine”.
- AceGuide is not a medical record. We do not store your glucose history.
If you are in doubt about a reading or a symptom, contact your healthcare team.
3. Who may use it
- You must be 16 or older to hold an account. Parents and carers may absolutely run an account on behalf of a child — the account holder is the adult, not the child.
- You must have the right to access the Nightscout site you connect. Connect your own data, or data you have been given explicit permission to view.
- One person, one account. Do not share login credentials.
4. Connecting Nightscout
- Use an Access Token from a Subject with the
readablerole. Never give us yourAPI_SECRET— it would grant write access to your whole instance, and we do not want it. - A Nightscout URL can only ever be registered to one account. The first Google account to connect a given site owns it. If you later sign in with a different Google account and try to connect the same site, you will be refused. This exists to stop people collecting repeated free trials.
- If you genuinely need to move a site to a new account — you changed email, or a family member is taking over — contact support and we will transfer it.
- A transferred site keeps its original trial start date. Transferring does not create a new free trial.
- Your Nightscout URL and token are encrypted with a key that is not stored in our database. Nobody at AceGuide, including the owner, can read them.
5. Free accounts
The free pool is limited. AceGuide offers a fixed number of free accounts at any one time — 1,000 by default. This is set by us and may change.
- If slots are available, a new account gets 3 months free, in full, with no card required.
- If the pool is full when you sign up, you will see: “The free account limit has been reached. Only paid subscriptions are available right now. Please check back in a few days.” Your account is still created. You can subscribe immediately, or wait — slots free up regularly as dormant accounts are closed.
- Free trial accounts may connect three devices at once, exactly as paid accounts do. The trial is the full product, not a reduced one.
- When the trial ends, the display stops completely — it shows nothing at all until you subscribe. Your account, your Nightscout connection and every setting are kept exactly as you left them.
6. Dormant free accounts
Free slots are a limited shared resource, so we reclaim the ones nobody is using. This applies to free and trial accounts only. A paid subscription is never deactivated for inactivity.
- 30 days idle — we email you a warning and show a banner in the app. Opening the app once clears it completely.
- 45 days idle — the account is deactivated: the display stops, your devices are signed out, your Nightscout site is released so another account can claim it, and your free slot returns to the pool.
- Your account and settings are not deleted. Sign in again to reactivate. Reactivating does not grant a new 3-month trial — whatever remained of your original trial is what you get back.
“Used” means the display actually ran — opening the app and letting it fetch a reading. We record only a timestamp, not what you looked at.
7. Paid subscriptions
- €19 per year, or €2.49 per month, inclusive of VAT where applicable. The price may change; we will tell you before it affects a renewal.
- Renews until you cancel. Cancel any time from the billing portal; you keep access until the end of the paid period.
- Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.
- EU consumers have a 14-day right of withdrawal on digital services.
- Up to 3 concurrent devices — the same as during the trial. A device slot frees itself after 10 minutes idle, so a flat battery never locks you out.
8. Fair use
Please do not:
- Create multiple accounts to obtain repeated free trials, or to work around the device limit or the free-account cap.
- Point AceGuide at a Nightscout site you do not have permission to view.
- Poll faster than the app is designed to. We enforce a server-side floor on request rate — this protects your Nightscout host, which is usually a small free-tier server, as much as ours.
- Attempt to access another user’s account, credentials, or data.
- Resell, sublicense, or rebrand AceGuide without a written agreement.
- Use AceGuide in any clinical, diagnostic, or professional monitoring capacity. It is a convenience display for personal use.
9. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or close an account that breaks this policy, abuses the free pool, or endangers the service or other users. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will warn you first and explain why.
You may delete your account at any time from Settings. Deletion removes your profile, your encrypted credentials, your display settings and your devices, and cancels any active subscription. It cannot be undone.
10. Your data
- We do not store your glucose readings. They are fetched from Nightscout, rendered, and discarded. There is no glucose history in our database.
- We store: your Google account email and name, your encrypted Nightscout URL and token, your display settings, your device list, and your subscription state.
- Glucose data is special-category health data under GDPR. The simplest protection is not to keep it, which is what we do.
- Full detail is in the Privacy Policy.
11. Availability
AceGuide is provided as-is. We do not promise uninterrupted service. Most outages you will experience come from your own Nightscout host or your network, not from us — AceGuide will tell you which it thinks it is, but it cannot fix either.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. Material changes — particularly to the free-account cap, the dormancy periods, or the price — will be announced in the app and by email before they take effect. Continuing to use AceGuide after that means you accept the change.
